I’ve been pretty good at not gathering too much clutter throughout my life. I think moving a lot, especially during the Air Force had a lot to do with it. It’s just so much easier to get rid of stuff you don’t really use than to haul it everywhere you go.
A couple of years ago we bought our first house. While we don’t have plans to move for a while, we still only keep what we need. Check out our garage, both vehicles fit! If there is something of value that’s not being used like we planned, it’ll end up on eBay (for smaller items) or Craigslist (for hard-to-ship stuff). If I get rid of something that I actually find I need later on, I can always buy it again.
This habit follows us when we travel as well. Usually it’s only one carry-on each. With all the baggage feed we face, it saves us money too!
Not having so much junk really is nice. You get a certain amount of freedom when you lead a clutter-free life, both mental and physical. It’s kind of nice 🙂
From Aug 6 through Sep 5, I’m participating in The Suitcase Entrepreneur’s 30 Day Blog Challenge. Every day, for the next 30 days, I’ll be posting about a new topic of the day about building my own online business. I’m looking forward to learning new tips and trick for my new blog, Livermore Rocks! So join me on my quest as I take on the 30 Day Blog Challenge. Enjoy -Kirk
