Three years ago we bought our favorite travel accessory ever. It’s a 2006 Fun Finder X-139. It’s about as small as a travel trailer you can get that has a bathroom (albeit a small one). We’ve taking 22 trips, near and far, and covered thousands of miles. A lot of our trips are weekends somewhere in Northern California as we live in the Bay Area. We do have a couple long distance hauls under our belts when we did Canada in 2011 and the US Southwest in 2012. The Fun Finder is about 14 feet long and we can take it just about anywhere. Tied to the truck it only takes two parking spots and I can turn it on a dime. It’s easy to pull and easy to set up too. Inside it has all the amenities one need: kitchen (stove, microwave, sink, fridge), bath (toilet and shower), bed that converts to a dinette, storage, heat, air-conditioning, it’s got it all on one small unit. Though you do have to use the limited resources efficiently. You don’t want to get too greedy in the shower when you are camping without hookups. It’s perfect for Andrea and I.
When you are on the road, you see so many things that you wouldn’t by air. It’s the little places, the lonely highways, the sense of really getting away. With air travel, you can skip over the journey. On the road, the journey is the adventure. Check out our trips on Andrea’s website, Andi the Tour Guide. Anytime we travel, land, sea or air… we blog about it there.
