Hartford Road in Livermore, CA is a quiet road just north of town where you can see across the valley. At night it makes for a nice place to stand in the middle of the road to get a shot of the wispy clouds, stars and a full moon like this. Looking east you can see the Altamont wind turbines and Bay Area commuters making their way back home to the Central Valley

Take a ride on comet Neowise. To get to the dark skies, we drove an hour south on I-5 from the light pollution in the Bay Area, then headed west into the hills. It was a spectacular to see with our own eyes.

While camping at Seacliff State Beach in Monterey Bay, the sun was setting over Capitola, CA as the marine layer rolled in. The result was beautiful golden sunbeams lighting the fog as the sun peeked though the mist. With the fog acting like a solar filter, you can actually see a few sunspots dotting the surface of the sun.
